A classic, rich jam that lets the blueberries shine. No pectin needed.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
Instructions
- Add blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until berries break down (8–10 minutes).
- Lightly mash for your preferred texture.
- Continue simmering another 10–15 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool. It will thicken more as it sets.
How to Tell It’s Ready
- Drag a spoon through the jam. If it slowly fills back in, it’s done.
- Or place a small spoonful on a cold plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
Storage
- Fridge: up to 2 weeks
- Freezer: up to 3 months
