A classic, rich jam that lets the blueberries shine. No pectin needed.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until berries break down (8–10 minutes).
  3. Lightly mash for your preferred texture.
  4. Continue simmering another 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. It will thicken more as it sets.

How to Tell It’s Ready

  • Drag a spoon through the jam. If it slowly fills back in, it’s done.
  • Or place a small spoonful on a cold plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.

Storage

  • Fridge: up to 2 weeks
  • Freezer: up to 3 months
